My family engaged James from dezign origin for our kitchen renovation, and we could not have been any happier. In terms of service, He is very professional and had stayed true to all their promises. He was very attentive to our design requests and was able to suggest many good options while accommodating to our preferences. He also did not hesitate to go the extra mile in helping us source for various items that we needed for the renovation.Thank you 👍🏻

For all new homeowners who have no idea what to expect from a renovation, TLDR stay as far away as you can from this company, I hope people don't make the same mistake I did, and I can only do so by warning others here. To be fair to them, if you already know what you want, down to all the measurements and how to design, they might be a good option to consider.
To start it all, I engaged Aiden from Dezign Origin to help renovate my house, 2 room 1 study condo ~800 sq ft. It was a referral from a colleague, which turned out to be one of the biggest mistake I've made in my life. In their quotation, design was free, I consider this my mistake, as with everything else, free is never good. All the things I wished I had known earlier, not once did he mention them to me. I can only say I wish I found someone with way better attention to detail, sometimes I wonder if it's due to the amount I paid (13k).
1. Mock-up vs real life is kind of disappointing for the TV cabinet.
2. I wanted to install a door for my study room, they hacked away the frame, but they failed to consider that I needed to add skirting once the frame is gone. I only realised after a contractor I hired noticed and asked if I wanted to do it.
3. For their carpenters, modifications like changing of size means redo-ing everything, so if you expect the carpenter to cut the wood for areas you are unhappy with, this is not possible. E.g. I only realised shoe cabinets should ideally be 40cm on the day before carpentry delivery, so I asked if they could cut the wood to 40cm from 60cm. However the only option was to top up the same amount and redo the entire cabinet. Spoke to my ID about this, and asked why he did not once recommend me to make shoe cabinet with 40cm width instead (Reason for 40cm is because shoes are about 30cm long, 60cm creates weird gaps if you want to keep your shoes). He said that everyone should know this (I do blame myself for not knowing), and thus did not tell me anything. I did let him know that as an ID, it should have been his responsibility to tell me what is the optimal size, and not assume I know (Really not sure if I'm expecting too much from my ID).
My glass door (21mm) and my wood door (19mm) was different in width, which lead to the center box protruding outwards on the side of the wood door. This was not shown in any drawings and when I saw it, they simply told me was that this was expected.
Their glass cabinet looks hideous with thick aluminium bezels(a number of ppl asked why I chose this glass). I did ask my ID and they said it is the only one they have, either in black or silver.
4. got charged $1,800 for painting (Nippon Vinilex 4 colours, 800+ sq ft). After the first day of painting, I asked why the walls conditions were so bad, and he said painters do not touch up walls and I have to pay extra to plaster if I wanted the walls to look better. I wasn't expecting 100% perfection, so I asked like 10 painters and show them the same photos, and all of them agreed the current painter did a terrible job. I spoke to my ID about it the 2nd time, and he insisted once again to me that painters out there do not touch up walls. He said he will have to give them "kopi money" so that they will touch up the walls, however he alsooffered me a refund of $750, which I took. He said this $750 is a goodwill discount from them because I "feel" that his painter cannot touch up to my standard. I did not see any effort even after they came down twice. How can I trust that they will do a good job the 3rd time?
I found another painter and repainted the entire place for $1,630 (Nippon Odourless, 4 colours). They patched everything to their best and I am satisfied with it.
5. Lastly, the goodwill refund of $750 from my painting was used to offset the last 5% deposit which is supposed to be paid upon satisfactory handover. At this point in time of writing this review, they have not yet completed their work.
On the bright side, with this experience, I learnt the hard way what to look out for, without them I probably would never have known.
